My Work On This Project
While working for Huey Games, I was tasked with the creation of three pieces of extra content to be bundled with the PlayStation 4 edition of "Little Nightmares II". This process was not without its challenges however, I overcame them all and created three pieces of content that satisfied our client.
Digital Art Book App
This app allows the user to literally flick through pages of a digital art book by simply swiping their finger across the DualShock 4 controller's touch pad. With each page, the LED on the controller changes colour to the average colour of the image on the screen. Images can be selected and zoomed in on for a closer look. The main focus of development for this app was the functionality to export a PDF version of the art book to a USB storage device directly from the PlayStation 4 system. Adding this functionality required the development of a proprietary DLL that uses existing Sony libraries. This library was written in C++ and is interfaced with C#. The managed code is capable of interfacing with unmanaged code via a messaging system.
Digital Soundtrack App
The digital soundtrack player app features music from the "Little Nightmares II - Official Soundtrack". Each track has a unique background which the app will elegantly fade to when that track starts playing. As with the digital art book app, the entire soundtrack can be exported to a USB storage device.
PlayStation 4 Dynamic Theme
The "Little Nightmares II" dynamic theme features a parallax zooming effect when moving between the function and content areas on the PlayStation 4 system dashboard, along with a looping animation of the main character and dynamic animations on numerous elements in the scene.
